Event rates for the primary* and secondary outcomes according to the HbA1c and fasting glucose variability groups. *The primary outcome was a composite of macrovascular events (coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, or stroke) and microvascular events (a creatinine clearance rate of <60 mL/min/1.73 m²). The secondary outcome were each of the macrovascular and microvascular events.
