Human urine was spiked with a 100bp DNA ladder and then extracted using different conditions. An equivalent amount of ladder was run in the first lane for comparison. Only lysis buffers with lowered pH (6.5–6.0) or which contained alcohol (ETOH, ethanol) efficiently recovered the 100bp band.
