Combined cueing effects. For each of the three color sets (i.e., red, green, and blue), we averaged the cueing effect across pairs of positive and negative offsets. Panels (a–c) show results from Experiments 1 (n = 10), 2 (n = 10), and 3 (n = 11), respectively. The shaded areas represent mean boundaries ± 1 SD. As the boundaries width increased, the suppressive surround also increased and overlapped with the boundary areas. Error bars represent standard error of the mean.
