Fig 1 — Heated humidification mask has a 3-dimensional structure. Heat-and-steam generator (HSG) attached on the top of the mask produces warm water vapor through the oxidation reaction of iron. The water contained in the heating component inside the HSG is generated as warm steam from the permeable sheet side. Skin temperature in the mask is kept at around 38–40˚C. HSG = heat-and-steam generator.
