Table 1. The increase in surface PS caused by irradiation is unclear but does not appear to be due changes in intracellular calcium translocase activity or total PS.

Units Control Irradiated (10Gy)
Flippase Initial rate 2.03 ± 0.02 2.03 ± 0.07 NS
Scramblase Initial rate 0.75 ± 0.19 0.33 ± 0.40 NS
Total PS PS/PI ratio 7.50 ± 2.57 5.28 ± 1.95 NS
Calcium arbitrary fluorescence 8717.3 ± 421.8 7245.5 ± 777.1 NS

The activities of the PS translocases, flippase and scramblase, the total amount of PS and intracellular calcium were determined in cfPac-1 cells 24 hr. after 10 Gy irradiation as described in “Materials and Methods”.
