Cd-activated Akt is associated with BECN1 phosphorylation in neuronal cells. PC12 cells and primary neurons were treated with Cd (0–20 μM) for 8 h or with Cd (10 μM) for 0–24 h. (A and C) Total cell lysates were subjected to Western blotting using indicated antibodies, showing that Cd evoked the phosphorylation of Akt and BECN1 dose- and time-dependently in the cells. The blots were probed for β-tubulin as a loading control. Similar results were observed in at least three independent experiments. (B and D) The blots for p-BECN1 (Ser295) and p-Akt (Ser473) were semi-quantified. All data were expressed as means ± SE (n = 3). *P < 0.05, difference with control group.
