Guideline recommendations regarding target blood pressure

Patients with CAD General Population / Patients with risk factors
for CAD
2013 ESH/ESC Guidelines for the Management of Arterial Hypertension [58] Start treatment when SBP ≥140 mmHg; Target SBP <140 mmHg. SBP: <140 mmHg in all patients except for between 140-150 mmHg in patients older than 80 years. DBP: <90 mmHg in all patients except for <85 mmHg in patients with diabetes.
2014 JNC 8 Guideline for the Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults [59] In general population >60 years of age, a target BP <150/90 mmHg is recommended. In patients <60 years of age, BP <140/90 mmHg is recommended
2015 AHA/ACC/ASH Treatment of Hypertension in Patients With Coronary Artery Disease [16] < 140/90 mmHg is reasonable for prevention of cardiovascular events. Lower target of <130/80 mmHg may be appropriate in individuals with prior myocardial infarction, CAD, stroke, or TIA.
2017 ACC/AHA High Blood Pressure Clinical Practice Guidelines [15] In adults with stable ischemic heart disease, a blood pressure target of <130/80 mmHg is recommended Target level of <130/80 mmHg is recommended in patients with hypertension and 10-year ASCVD event risk of at least 10%
