VopA alters the phosphorylation state of proteins that make up the focal adhesion complex (FAC). The results of immunoblot analysis of lysates from cultured HEK293 cells transfected with plasmid vector pCMV (control) or pCMV harboring myc-vopA or a mutant and catalytically inactive species of vopA, myc-mvopA (C181A), for 24 h are shown. Cell lysate (0.5 μg) was loaded into each well, and protein abundance was assayed using antibodies against the indicated proteins.
