Horses were vaccinated with either gradient-purified (Group 1) or filtered (Group 2) plant-produced AHS 5 VLPs, or PBS (Group 3) or bicine buffer (Group 4), all adjuvanted with 5% Pet Gel A (SEPPIC, Paris, France) and administered by deep intra-muscular injection.
