Diagram demonstrating the collaboration between modelling and experimentation, culminating in the development of protocols for large-scale tissue engineering informed by experiment-parameterised models. Calibration experiments can be used to inform a mathematical model, which can then be parameterised to the experimental measurements. The parameterised model can then provide predictions about the effect of different operating conditions on culture growth, proposing a range which improves cell yield. Upon an experimental validation of these suggestions and implementing any necessary adjustments, new robust and more efficient protocols for bone tissue engineering are developed.
