Thrombocyte counts of our patient over the first 2 weeks of life (values × 10⁹/L mentioned at each marker). A mild early-onset thrombocytopenia (1) was observed, presumably because of being born small for gestational age, with spontaneous recuperation at day 3 of life (2). At day 3, ranitidine (0.5 mg/kg/6 hr) was initiated, followed by a severe thrombocytopenia (8 × 10⁹/L) with only minimal recuperation after platelet transfusion (3), but fast and complete recovery after ranitidine cessation at day 6 (4).
