Proposed regulating role of PPARα in gemfibrozil-induced hepatotoxicity caused by gemfibrozil. Pharmacodynamic actions are determined by expression of the target genes involved in β-oxidation of long-chain fatty acids, producing therapeutic effects. Disruption of LPCs and bile acid metabolism and/or transport is regulated in a PPARα-dependent manner, leading to the downstream metabolite modifications
