HSV-2 ICP27 inhibits IFN-β production in primary mucosal epithelial cells. (A,B) HSV-2 ICP27 inhibits IFN-β production in human foreskin epithelial cells. Primary epithelial cells were isolated from human foreskin tissues and transfected with empty vector pcDNA3.1(+), plasmid expressing HSV-2 ICP27 or ICP22 or infected with HSV-2. At 24 h post-transfection, cells were stimulated with or without 100 HAU ml⁻¹ SeV for 16 h, and total RNAs were extracted for RT-PCR (A), while the supernatants were harvested for ELISA (B).
