Categories of depression
Recent depression: a woman was categorised under ‘recent depression’ from the date she met any of the three criteria for the first time.
Previous depression: after 6 months, the woman was categorised under ‘previous depression’ for at least the following 54 months.
Past depression: a woman was categorised under ‘past depression’ after at least 60 months from debut (of depression).
No depression: a woman was categorised under ‘no depression’ if she had yet to meet any of the criteria. These were the reference group.
