Proposed model for the function of LSM2-8 complex in plant response to abiotic stresses. Depending on the stress condition (i.e., low temperature or high salt), the LSM2-8 complex would target stress-specific transcripts encoding important regulators of plant tolerance to the corresponding condition to ensure their correct and specific pattern of splicing. The activity of the LSM2-8 complex, therefore, would shape the transcriptome reprogramming required for plant adaptation to a particular abiotic stress situation.
