In the anterior, in both control and glaucoma model ONH, astrocytes are by far the predominant cell type. While the transition region includes oligodendroglia in addition to microglia/macrophage, the majority of nuclei in both control and glaucoma model ONH label as astrocytes as well. Unlabeled cells may include glial progenitor cells (such as NG2 cells), endothelial, and other non-glial cells.
