Figure depicts the rates of transfusion of blood components after onset of medical and surgical NEC. Platelet transfusion rates were higher among 14 infants with surgical NEC, compared to 25 infants with medical NEC (IRR 12; 95% CI 4.1–34). Infants who died on the day of NEC onset not included.
