Number of drugs taken with respect to the patients’ degree of disability and therapy goals. The medications were split into three groups according to the therapy goals: DMDs, symptomatic drugs and comorbidity drugs. The patients were divided into two subgroups with EDSS ≤ 3.0 (N = 143) and >3.0 (N = 163), respectively. The bars mark the average number of drugs taken and the error bars show the standard deviation. Considering the drug intake of MS patients, the numbers of symptomatic and comorbidity drugs taken were significantly higher for patients with higher degrees of disability.
