aData are mean ± SEM. We detected a significant main effect of session in P2 for cocaine risk-preferring rats (F(9,117) = 3.693, p < 0.001), which we followed up with a linear contrast (F(1,13) = 12.010, p = 0.004) to show that responding for the safe option P2 decreased in a linear fashion as cocaine self-administration progressed. No other options displayed significant within-subjects changes over session (i.e., all terms of individual repeated-measures ANOVAs were nonsignificant.
bSignificant effect across sessions as determined by post hoc tests.
