Susceptibility of different blood cell populations to FeMV-GT2. PBMC from healthy cats were infected with FeMV-GT2-Gordon strain (MOI = 0.1) or mock-infected. After 48 hours FeMV-GT2-infected cells among CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, CD20+ B cells and FSChi monocytes were analyzed by flow cytometry. Only viable cells following doublet exclusion were included in the analysis. Fluorescence-minus-one (FMO) controls were used for appropriate gating of CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells and CD20+ B cells. See supplemental Figure S1 for gating strategy. (A) Frequencies of FeMV-GT2-positive cells among CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, CD20+ B cells and FSChi monocytes of feline peripheral blood are depicted. Gates were set according to the respective mock control. Each dot represents one individual cat, the horizontal bars indicate median values. Data from one representative experiment (three independent experiments were performed) are shown. (B) Histograms show representative results of FeMV-GT2-infected PBMC populations in comparison to mock controls.
