Cells were sorted as in Extended Data Fig. 3. Note the large proportions of all CD32⁺ cells that did not show high CD4 expression after sorting. Post-sort analyses of CD3⁺CD4⁺CD32^hi populations were deferred in cases in which these populations were too small to permit both post-sort analysis and downstream HIV DNA quantification (that is, donors # 1, 4 and 6–8).
