Double stained adherent endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs). Fluorescence microscopy (100x objective, bar corresponds to 20 µm) illustrates double-labelled adherent cells viewed in bright field (a). The cells were positive for binding of FITC-Ulex-lectin (b), and for uptake of Dil-labeled acetylated LDL (c). The staining in (d) show that the same cells stained for both FITC-Ulex-lectin and acetylated LDL and therefore agree with the current definition of cultured endothelial progenitor cells.
