SsMAX2 OE lines exhibited lower hydrogen peroxide and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and increased proline and soluble sugar levels in response to osmotic and salt stresses. The (C) hydrogen peroxide, (D) MDA, (E) proline, and (F) soluble sugar level of 15-day-old seedlings of the SsMAX2 OE lines, max2, and WT were determined 5 days after withholding water or 150 mM NaCl treatment. Data are presented as means ± SD of three biological replicates. Significant differences between WT and the other groups were determined by Student’s t-test.
