The deletion of 38 bp in the IRC7S allele results in a protein of 340 amino acids (Gly340*), truncated compared to the full-length allele (IRC7L), which encodes a protein of 400 amino acids.

IRC7 alleles from different donor strains were integrated at the IRC7 chromosomal location of the haploid wine strain AWRI1631.
