Mice received vehicle, LPS or SAA every 3 days over 14 days. After a further 2 weeks, mice were euthanized and total mRNA isolated from aortae and kidneys. Corresponding cDNA products were probed for gene expression by RT-PCR. mRNA expression was normalized to β-actin house-keeping gene and arbitrarily assigned a value of 1 and other data expressed relative to this level; data represent means ± (SD).
Different to control; P < 0.05.
Different to the corresponding LPS group; P < 0.05. 4 samples of kidney homogenate from the SAA-treatment group failed to yield suitable cDNA product for PCR analyses.
