Under the treatment with sterol biosynthesis inhibitors (SBIs), the HOG cascade FgSsk2-FgPbs2-FgHog1 is activated in F. graminearum. Subsequently, FgSR is strongly phosphorylated by activated FgHog1 and other kinase(s). The highly phosphorylated FgSR recruits the SWI/SNF complex to remodel chromatin, and subsequently induces the high transcription levels of sterol biosynthesis genes
