PR mutations significantly decrease HIV-1 infectivity without affecting viral production. (A) HIV-1 infectivity of equal amounts of p24 of WT and mutants was quantified with TZM-bl cells. (B) Lysates of transfected HEK293T cells were analyzed for HIV-1 Gag, CA, and gp160 expression by immunoblotting. GAPDH was a loading control.
