A nicotinic agonist enhances the survival rate in the murine model of CVB3-induced myocarditis via α3β4-nAChR/PI3K/Akt-dependent survivin upregulation. Survival proportions at day 7 were 100% for the normal control group, 42.9% for the CVB3-infected group, 70.7% for the nicotine-treated group, 27.6% for the α-CTX AuIB-treated group, and 31.0% for the LY294002-treated group.
