Effects of dioscin on xenografts in nude mice. (a) Effects of dioscin on tumour volumes and tumour weights of xenografts in nude mice. HepG2 and SMCC7721 cells were s.c. injected into the right flanks of nude mice to establish xenograft models. The mice were treated with dioscin (20, 40, and 80 mg·kg−1·day−1) or 5‐FU (20 mg·kg−1·day−1) for 24 days. After treatment, all mice were killed and the tumour volume was measured and calculated using the formula: V = A × B2/2. (b) Effects of dioscin on xenografts in nude mice based on H&E, TUNEL, and Ki67 staining. All data are expressed as mean ± SD (n = 5). *P < 0.05 compared with control group
