Conformational stability immunoassay of resPrP^D from brain of Tg40 inoculated with undiluted PMCA-treated vCJD urine or 1% vCJD BH revealed no statistically significant difference between curves depicting the rate of conversion of resPrP^D to PK-sensitive PrP as a function of the amount of GdnHCl. The guanidine concentrations needed to render half of the PrP^D sensitive to PK, [GdnHCl]_1/2, were 1.31 ± 0.1 M and 1.4 ± 0.1 M, respectively (N = 3 for each group).
