An illustration of epitranscriptome analysis using antibodies to identify RNAs with base modifications. Poly(A)+ mRNA is used for RNA immunoprecipitation with antibodies specific to a base modification (e.g., m6A or m5C). The IP’ed RNA is then used to generate a cDNA library for high-throughput sequencing. The reads are then aligned to the reference genome.
