Schematic of the combined EDEMP pathway in Pseudomonas putida. Enzymes from the pentose phosphate pathway (Zwf, Pgi), Entner-Doudoroff pathway (Edd, Eda), and gluconeogenic Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas pathway (Fba, Tpi, Fbp, and Pgi) act in concert to create a loop that recycles triose phosphates and generates an excess of NADPH reducing equivalents.
