This summarises the content of more than 130 publications from the Sydney Heart Bank (SHB) and its collaborators. Boxes on the left-hand side indicate the number and types of failing human hearts and non-failing healthy donor hearts that act as “controls” for the diseased hearts (black boxes). The right-hand side refers to experimental aspects of heart failure that have been published using SHB tissue. These include contractile mechanics of the cardiomyocytes and its sarcomeric proteins (dark blue boxes), the expression profile of cytoskeletal proteins (light blue boxes), membrane proteins (green boxes), and myocardial regeneration after injury (orange boxes).
