Appearance on CT The appendix is herniating through the femoral ring just medial to the common femoral vein. In direct inguinal hernia, the herniating appendix will be seen medial to the inferior epigastric vessels.
In indirect inguinal hernia, the herniating appendix will be seen lateral and superior to the inferior epigastric vessels.
