The branch-specific statistic fb(C) identifies excess sharing of derived alleles between the branch of the tree on the y-axis and the species C on the x-axis (see Supplementary Note). The ASTRAL* tree was used as a basis for the branch statistic and grey data points in the matrix correspond to tests that are not consistent with the phylogeny. Colours correspond to eco-morphological groups as in Fig. 1. The * sign denotes block jack-knifing significance at |Z|>3.17 (Holm-Bonferroni FWER<0.001).
