In the first time partition (≦1 year), the interactions were significant for PD with age (p<0.0001) and with sex (p=0.04), with age in men (p=0.02) and with age in women (p<0.0001). In the second time partition (>1 year), the interactions were significant for PD with age (p<0.0001), with age in men (p<0.0001) and with age in women (p<0.0001), but not for PD with sex (p=0.23).

*Based on Poisson assumption.

†Based on Cox proportional hazard regression with competing risk analysis and adjusted for all variables, except for age and sex.

‡Based on Cox proportional hazard regression with competing risk analysis and adjusted for all variables, except for sex.

§Based on Cox proportional hazard regression with competing risk analysis and adjusted for age, sex, insurance premium, urbanisation status, geographic area, occupational status, hypertension status, diabetes, CAD, stroke, hyperlipidaemia, COPD, Charlson’s score and number of medical visits.

AHR, adjusted HR; CAD, coronary artery disease; COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; ID, incidence density (per 1000 person-years).
