Knockdown of miR-552-5p suppresses proliferation, migration and invasion of MG63 and U2OS cells. (A) Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis revealed that the expression level of miR-552-5p decreased in MG63 and U2OS cells following transfection with miR-552-5p inhibitors, compared with the NC-inhibitor group. Results of (B) CCK-8 and (C) colony formation assays indicated that miR-552-5p knockdown inhibited the proliferation of MG63 and U2OS cells. Transwell assays indicated that miR-552-5p knockdown significantly reduced (D) migration and (E) invasion of MG63 and U2OS cells (magnification, ×100). (F) Expression levels of miR-552-5p were upregulated following transfection with miR-552-5p mimics in OS cells. CCK-8 and Transwell assays revealed that overexpression of miR-552-5p promoted (G) proliferation, (H) migration and (I) invasion of OS cells. *P<0.05, **P<0.01 and ***P<0.001 vs. the respective NC group. miR, microRNA; CCK-8, Cell Counting Kit-8; NC, negative control.
