Secondary abiotic IL-10^−/− mice were perorally infected either with the C. jejuni 11168^WT strain (closed circles) or the isogenic htrA mutant 11168^HtrA−S197A (open circles) by gavage on days 0 and 1. (A) Clinical symptoms were quantitatively assessed applying a standardized clinical scoring system on day 6 postinfection (see methods) and (B) colonic lengths were measured by a ruler (in cm).
