Location of regions of interest (ROIs). The ROIs were exactly in the same location in images with default clinical post-processing (left) and with minimal post-processing (right). Two ROIs were placed in subchondral trabecular bone immediately below the cartilage-bone interface in the middle part of the medial and lateral tibial plateaus. Sixteen ROIs were placed under the dense subchondral trabecular bone area. Dashed rectangles show the areas where the mean value of the steps of the aluminum step wedge were calculated.
