Cells were treated with alteronol with or without ADM for 48 h. CI and DRI values were calculated by CompuSyn software. Fa, effect levels. Fa30–Fa90, 30–90% efficiency percentage. CI, combination index; CI = (D)1/(Dx)1 + (D)2/(Dx)2, where (Dx)1 and (Dx)2 represent the doses of drug 1 and 2 in a combination needed for achieving the same efficiency as that of the single drug 1 or 2 at D1 or D2, respectively, CI < 1,CI = 1, and CI > 1 indicate synergistic, additive, and antagonistic effects, respectively. Dose reduction index (DRI) indicates the fold change of the dose for each drug to be reduced in a combination compared to a single drug at a given effect. The greater the DRI value, the more the dose of a single drug should be reduced to achieve the same effect. The DRIs of alteronol and ADM are greater than 1, indicating a synergistic effect for the combined treatment.
