Participants 20 ASA 1 or 2 patients scheduled for gynaecological surgery between May and December 2012
Exclusions were previous history of renal failure, cardiovascular disease or diabetes mellitus; participants taking medications that have effects on the autonomic nervous system; participants who had more than 1000 mL blood loss/received blood transfusion during surgery
Interventions Intervention: thoracic epidural anaesthesia (T12‐L1) with test dose followed by 1% mepivacaine
Control: remifentanil during surgery
General anaesthesia and epidural analgesia with 0.375% ropivacaine after surgery for all participants

Adrenaline and noradrenaline
Notes Study will likely be excluded, as all participants received epidural analgesia
