OSM signals through the STAT3 pathway and leads to IL-6 induction in ER− cells, while IL-1β induces IL-6 through the p65 pathway. In ER+ cells, ER may be interacting with STAT3 to suppress IL-6 production. There may also be some crosstalk-like interaction between STAT3 and p65, however the exact nature of this interaction is not known [73, 74].
