| Participants | Women with a spontaneous incomplete or missed abortion up to and including 12 weeks' gestation. |
| Interventions | Drugs and medications; surgery. |
| Outcomes | Primary outcome measures: (1) need for evacuation of retained products of conception in theatre within 1 month of the intervention; (2) infection requiring antibiotics; (3) change in haemoglobin from pre‐intervention to 72 hours and 4 weeks post‐intervention. Secondary outcomes: (1) side‐effects e.g. nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain; (2) analgesia required in hospital ‐ narcotics or oral; (3) antiemetics required in hospital; (4) duration of bleeding; (5) complication rates based on ethnic extraction. |
