Inclusion criteria: adults with acute or chronic stroke causing moderate to severe upper limb functional limitation
Interventions 3 groups:
  1. robot‐assisted training using the InMotion robotic gym system

  2. enhanced upper limb therapy

  3. usual care

Outcomes Primary outcome: upper limb function measured by ARAT at 3 months' postrandomisation
Secondary outcomes: upper limb impairment, activities of daily living, quality of life, resource use, and adverse events measured at 3 and 6 months' postrandomisation
