Groups of Swiss Webster mice (N = 10) were inoculated in the right thigh muscle with approximately 5.0 × 10⁶ colony forming units of washed, log phase C. septicum. At 2 hr, 6hr, 10hr and 14hr post-inoculation, animals were treated with either saline, clindamycin phosphate (86 mg/kg), 2) sodium penicillin G (98 mg/kg), 3) tetracycline hydrochloride (21 mg/kg), or 4) vancomycin hydrochloride (20 mg/kg). Observations were made and mortalities noted over the next 15 hr post-inoculation.
