Normal saline + normal saline (A), normal saline + ethanol (B), ethanol + zingerone (50 mg/kg) (C), ethanol + zingerone (100 mg/kg) (D), ethanol + zingerone (200 mg/kg) (E), and ethanol + ranitidine (50 mg/kg) (F). Ethanol caused extensive hemorrhagic ulcers (B) and treatment with zingerone at doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg attenuated gastric ulcers.
