Viability of S. maltophilia isolates and their derived mutants after heat shock. The logarithmic-phase bacterial cells were collected, adjusted to 2 × 10⁵ CFUs/μl, and 10-fold serially diluted. Then 5 μl of the bacterial cells were spotted on LB agar. After an 18-h incubation period, bacterial cell growth was observed. (A) Incubation at 37°C. (B) Incubation at 40°C.
