NPs intracellular localization has effects on cell reproduction and development, on DNA and it may interfere with the pumping activity of the protein; moreover it causes an increase in cell permeability and an uncontrolled transport through the cytoplasmic membrane and, ultimately, cell death. Ag⁺ leads inhibition of the electron transport.
