( a) Angles close to 0° mean parallel stems whereas angles close to 180° correspond to potentially stacking stems. Angle distributions in ( b) tRNAs and ( c) ribosomal RNA are shown as a histogram mapped onto a circular plot illustrating the angles. The (inner) blue bars are instances where DSSR detects stacking on the atom-level scale. The orange bars start at the top of the blue bars and indicate geometries where DSSR does not detect stacking.
