The best place for someone with sea sickness is not only the central section of the ship but the very lowest bunk in the very lowest cabin, as variations in motion are least pronounced at the center of rotation. When ascending the vessel’s masts the motion angle rapidly increases, and at only 30 degrees of swaying to both sides is 60°, with motion sickness immediately getting worse.

The most effective medication is meclozine. Unfortunately this substance is no longer commercially available in Germany. Internationally, however, it is the substance of choice, even for women affected by hyperemesis gravidarum. Similarly, promethazine is no longer available in suppository form.
